American Idol Concert Tour Review

Well. Well. It's good that I gave myself a few days to calm down before blogging about the tour or it would have basically been a whole lot of unreadable jibberish that looked a little like this - "OMGhgkjk679ADAMLAMBERtgahhh679q9ue8w5789&%*"

Or something to that effect. (Affect? Effect...)

Anyways. The tour was GREAT. I may have even enjoyed it more than last year, because unfortunately David Cook was disappointing. However, no one this year was disappointing (that I cared about.) Adam was FANTASTIC - the energy in the room when he came out was electrifying (good word). Everyone was just so stoked to see him. Seeing him live was different than anyone else I've ever seen live because he was just so...good. Like, inhuman. ELECTRIFYING, if you will.

Allison, Matt, Kris and Scott were all also very good, and there was nobody bad. Megan was the most disappointing, just because she didn't really connect with the audience at all.

The group song was amazing, mainly because RENEE LOVES JOURNEY. That one song, to be more specific (Don't Stop Believin')

And then AFTERWARDS - oh boy. We got to see them and get SO CLOSE TO THEM IT WAS...electrifying. I touched Kris Allen's palm (not creepily, we high fived) and I squished my hand against Matt Giraud's chest (again, not creepily, I was shoved forward by some weirdo behind me - what kind of thirty year old male freaks out when they see Allison Iraheta? Pedophile. He totally pushed some little kids into the barricades. I feared for my life. Tangent.)

Then Adam Lambert stole my book. I was holding it out for him to sing because people held stuff out and then they got signed but I guess no one else was holding anything as weird as "The Sun Also Rises" because his rep misconstrued my gesture and thought I was giving it to him as a gift. She was like "Thanks, he'll love it" and then she took it. I didn't say anything, because I have to say, the thought of Adam Lambert reading my book - or more specifically Gab's book - makes me a little tingly.

So that was basically my American Idol experience, omitting the part where we got lost afterwards, wandered around downtown Vancouver for an hour and had to take a kabuki cab back to our hotel.

OMG KRIS IS FINE

I CAN'T BELIEVE HE MADE IT TO THE FINAL THREE.
Although, my excitement comes with mixed emotions since I absolutely love Allison's voice. She'll go far in life, I'm sure.
But KRIS was so so so happy and it was so nice. I'll definitely buy the CD that he'll inevitably release.
I'm excited for the finale!

Peace, Gab

RENEE WINS

So. I just spent like WAY TOO LONG going back and counting all the posts to prove to Gab that I have, in fact, posted more times than her. Here was the final result:

Renee: 131 posts

Gab: 90 posts

And p.s. gab, some of your lame posts shouldn't even count. Like the one where you list your favourite animals? cough*slacker*cough. Plus, you cantradict yourself in an earlier entry when you say that sea kittens are your favourite animal.

EDIT to American Idol post: the more I watch Allison's solo the more I like it. She was better the second and third time. She'd better not be eliminated. And Danny and Kris's duet gets better with more viewings too. You know which one doesn't get better with more viewings? Adam's craptastic horrorshow.

American Idol Recap: Top 4

Oh yikes. Oh my. Oh my yikes.

Not good. Not good at all.

Maybe I'm just in a mood or something but tonight made me really depressed. Everything felt unfamiliar and dark and too loud and I hated it all. It made me miss my David. As much as I love Adam, he'll never come close to my boy Cook.

Everyone was bad tonight. Like BAD BAD. Allison was the best, she wasn't that bad actually. She was so unbad, in fact, that I'll forgive her for all her physical contact with Adam:) She's a good singer, and I was glad she talked back to Simon. But one good singer and two pretty good duets were NOT ENOUGH.

Adam - I hated his performance. I'm not ashamed - I hated it. He let me down. He made stupid embarassing facial expressions at the guitarist and I didn't believe him at all. He was so phony. And the song had no tune. AND HIS PANTS IN THE DUET. Oh my G. They weren't even hot. They were just...nope.

And BTW wth was Slash doing there? He's pretty much the greasiest mentor they could have possibly picked. Oh well, at least he sings. OH WAIT, he doesn't.

And then there was Danny. Oh, Danny, Danny, Danny. Just no. You can't hit those notes. Didn't anyone ever tell you that?

Kris. meh. It was too hard for him, poor guy. It just wasn't his week; we knew that it wouldn't be.

SO DISAPPOINTING.

Renee Out Disappointed.

I Love Dance Numbers!

Adieu, Lil Rounds! Adieu, Anoop Desai. Oops, sorry, Adam I did not know you were in the shower. HAHAHA, that's how this mind gets from point A to point B.

So anyways. Dance number ftw, I think Adam lost his lunettes de soleil unfortunately. The top five are pretty good, maybe minus Matt, I's looking forward to next week, two songs, yeeeah. David Archuleta, what a cutie.

This blog is atrocious

We are disappointing our millions of readers. Shame on us (Gab mostly.)

Since Gab is obviously NEVER going to post her number 1 artist (can you hear the anger?) we might as well start some new stuff. The new countdown is top ten TV shows and I get to start because I thought of it HA.

We need to make some new, honest to goodness posts full of our hilarious wit and pithy insights, not just embed a video and say "Hey look, Renee, I posted." Or vice versa but probably not because I'm so good about posting unlike some people who will remain nameless gab.

We need something for every week day to force us to come online. I've come up with a schedule.

Song Recommendation Monday - Both
Tube Tuesday - Gab
HIMYM Review Tuesday - Gab
AI Review Wednesday - Renee
Thoughtful Thursday - Gab (be philosophical about something specific eg. pita bread, mmmm)
NewHottie Friday - Renee

Catchy names haha, not so much.

Also, I am going to describe any interesting dreams I have from now on, because who doesn't want to hear about my fascinating subconcious happenings? (Answer: No one)

In recent Renee news, besides it basically being my birthday, I'm going to be best friends with Allison Iraheta I decided, because she's awesome and only one week younger than me! And then she'll introduce me to Adam and him and I will ride off into the sunset together. But even if that last part doesn't happen I am still going to be BFFE with Allison (besides Gab being my BFFE, even though I was kind of harsh at her this whole post, haha). So the blog must thrive in order for her to find it!

American Idol Top 8 Review. What, NO, I'm not watching Dancing With the Stars now!

I'm pretty inconsistent with my reviews. I'm pretty inconsistent in general. The only thing I'm consistent at is being awesome.

I'll rank the people tonight, because I never remember the order.

8. Scott. I'm sorry, but he needs to go. He's sweet but he's DEFINITELY not good enough to be there anymore. He was very far from hitting a few of those notes. He always sounds just a little offkey. I always feel bad insulting the ones whose personalities I like.

7. Anoop. NO PROBLEM INSULTING THIS ONE. Haha, but he was actually less annoying tonight. Not being a tool, anyways. And he has my boyfriend David Cook's birthday, which is slightly cool. He was boring though, but a cute baby.

6. Matt. To be honest, I skimmed half these performances. It looked okay. I'm liking Matty a lot more lately. I going soft I guess. Maybe it's the recaps of their childhoods (I like kiddies)

5. Danny. He kind of ruined that song. I love Danny but I love that song more and he did things to it that I did not so much like. Also, he does too much of the...I can't even explain it. It's like "oweeeowee" kinda thing.

4. Kris. Maybe I'm putting him too high up, I just love Kris. Loved the taxi driver and ferris wheel stories ("Would you say hi to Adam for me?") But yeah, he wasn't so exciting tonight, and I find it distracting when they play in the audience. I don't remember them ever doing this before this season.

3. Lil. She needs our support! Why are they so brutal to her? Just cause she's black they take for granted her killer pipes. Racist! I love Lil. I hope she hits her stride soon. Or Leel, as her and her mom say, haha.

2. Allison. I didn't particularily love Allison (I realize now I'm being biased and putting people I like high up the list). But whatever. She's really good, her fashion sense imporved...minutely.

1. Adam! Yayy, Adam. I didn't love this one as much as some people (tracks of my tears is still my fave) and for a while he looked like he was sitting on a floating chari, but his flashbacks were ADORABLE ("I liked playing dressup, not soccer") He's the best by so much it's ridiculous. Love him!

There we go. Pretty good review, if I do say so myself, which I do. Pat on the back, Renee! Gold star.

Who gave Paula a thesaurus?

Quick review, because I need to post four more entries (apparently I'm slacking). Well, maybe your mom's slacking.

Anoop: sucked, as always. And then he showed his true asshole colours by being a little bitch to the judges. Hopefully now America will start to hate him as much as I do.

Scott: boring, like always.

Danny: good.

Allison: not so good, but they didn't need to be so mean about her outfit. Did ALL of the judges have to mention it?

Adam: SEXY. Not as good as last week, but that guy could just go sit there and do nothing and the crowd would eat him up.

Kris: my favourite tonight. He did a good job.

Megan: i though it was okay. Too bad she went home. Cawing ftw, though!

Lil Rounds: they didn't give her enough credit. SHe was really good, and her kids are freaking adorable! "Randy, you're ready to be a Grandpa!" Thanks Ryan! Someone needs to let him know that he's not really young and hip like he thinks.

So yeah, wasn't as good as last week but it was okay. I'm lovin me some Adam.

Renee's American Idol, Top 13 Review

Gab, where's your HIMYM review? Slacking, are we?

Before I begin, I should say - maybe I already said this. Oh well, I'll say it again - that I take part in an American Idol pool with two of my friends every year. We bet different things - last year the two losers had to buy the winner the first album of a contestant of their choice. The year before the loser had to put a sign up on her locker saying how lame she was and how awesome the winner was.

NOT TO BRAG ANYTHING, but I've won the last two years we did it. I had BOTH Davids last year, there was no way I could have been defeated.

We do it by points, so even if you don't have the winner, you could still win if your people all did really well. I had first pick, and then fourth, seventh and tenth. The leftover is Jorge. No one likes him.

I have Adam, Allison, Kris and Michael. Let's hope they go far.

So - on to last night! First up was Lil Rounds. She's good but OMG what was she wearing? it took so much away from her performance, which was a little boring.

Then we had the blind guy, Scott. It would be uncouth to say anything bad about a blind guy, so all I'll say is that he's nice but boring and I hope he doesn't stick around too long.

Michael was next, I'm pretty sure. He's good and likable. I really can't guess how far he'll go but hopefully quite a ways, because I have him in the pool and I'm gonna win again this year, damnit! I liked Simon's joke about not knowing what Michael's job was. Simon's the only job that knows what the hell he's talking about.

Was Danny next? Danny was pretty good, pretty comfortable on stage. I really like him. I was glad they didn't talk about his wife dying again. They should let people like him for him and not because they feel bad for him. Danny' definitely one of my favourites this year.

Then it was Jasmine (?) I don't totally remember the order. Jasmine is boring, but fine.

Then it was Kris. Jesus, he's good looking. WHAT, that's not why I picked him, how dare you? Anyways, he was alright. He pronounced the word "remember" funny, like "remembah" but other than that he was fine.

I don't really remember the order, as I said, but I think Allison was somewhere in here. She's so weird. I haven't decided if it's good weird or bad weird yet. I mean, I don't think anyone has ever made a joke about cutting themselves on American Idol before. But whatever the case, she's a fantastic singer and I liked her rocker vibe.

Jorge is so boring. That's why no one picked him.

Megan was somewhere around here. I love her, I think she's so cute and such a good singer. They were a little harsh to her, I mean COME ON NOW, it was freakin' Michael Jackson week, how many good songs were there to be chosen (sorry, MJ). I like Megan, I hope she sticks around.

Maybe Anoop was next? I thought he was better than they gave him credit for, but still not that great, and once he started talking I was like "Geez, this guy's a cocky bastard." So I hope he's out.

Adam was somewhere around here. I loved his performance, NATURALLY. He's so comfortable on stage. A little bit over the top but whatever. SOME people (cough my mother cough) say he screams too much but whatever. If you can do it, why not? He's definitely the best singer on the show regardless, and no one can possibly dispute that. Hopefully he's just popular enough to go on, but why wouldn't he be? He wears plaid, for God's sake! He's got my vote.

I know Matt was after Adam because they were like "Oh, poor Matt, it's hard to follow Adam, meat...potatoes..." or something. Matt's okay. I've never liked him as much as I did in Hollywood Week but we'll see.

Alexis was last. She was great! I love her voice! They were mean to her. Simon's all like "That wasn't as good as you think it was," which was so assholey of him, because she's obviously the least cocky person ever. God Simon. GOD.

So that's everyone I hope. I think it will (should) be Anoop and Jorge. I would be okay with Jasmine or Scott, though. We'll see, I guess.

What a productive use of my spare.

Renee Out.

Renee's Number 1 Band

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah

Favourite songs: Let the Cool Goddess Rust Away (one of my favourite songs ever), The Skin of My Yellow Country Teeth, Satan Said Dance, Yankee Go Home

Renee by default wins the band contest, because Gab cheated by putting two together. Also, my bands are awesomer. You may have McGill; I will have awesomeness.

Renee (that's me) is involved in an American Idol poll with two of her very good friends. We've drawn the order - I get to go first! Last year I won because I had BOTH Davids.  I will briefly outline my strategy, but not too detailedly in case one of them looks. (Wow, detailedly doesn't have a red squiggle under it, does that mean it's actually a word?)

First round: I will nab Adam, obvs. One friend will most definitely take Danny, and the other will take one of the A girls.)

Second round: I will take Allison. If she's gone, I will go for Alexis.

See, you get points by how well your four people end up, so even if you don't have the winner, you might still win. This year I have developed a brilliant STRATEGIO that I will outline detailedly (detailedly, detailedly, detailedly) after the top 12 are fully assembled. I have a dark horse in mind that may be surprising to some. I will win again!!!

For our next top 10, Gab, I think we need to do solo artists. I'll start it off. Sound good?

Renee's Super truncated American Idol Review: Top 36, Part 2

More of a compendium, if you will. (That's right, I like big words, and I use them right about fifty percent of the time too.)

I had to watch last night's episode on skim, so I missed some stuff (though nothing that looked important). No NPH sightings, which makes me think that his favourite was probably in the first group. Most likely Danny.

So the ones that I liked a lot last night were Adam (OBVIOUSLY), Allison and Megan. I thought Adam's was good, though not his best, and that it will be a crime if he doesn't go through, except he obviously will. megan's dancing was hugely awkward but her singing was good. Allison's talking was hugely awkward but her singing was good.

Everyone else was pretty boring. No one was especially BAD, but no one blew me away. That Jeanine (?) girl was probably the worst, then crazy hair. I was disappointed with haired Matt's performance, because I LOVED him in HW (that's short for Hollywood Week; I know the slang, bitches!) Mishavonna was pretty good but she could never win, so why put her through?

So that's basically it. IMO the ones that proceed should be Adam, Allison and Megan.
